Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)

SEND Provision

IncludEd Learning Centre recognises that students attending the centre need support above and beyond that provided in mainstream schools.  As such they are considered to have Special Educational Needs (SEN).  These may be short-term difficulties or needs that endure throughout their school careers.

IncludEd supports pupils with SEN by aiming to:

  • Identify the nature of pupils’ additional needs;
  • create an environment that meets the special needs of each student;
  • ensure all students have access to as broad, balanced and differentiated a curriculum as possible;
  • encourage students to develop confidence and self-esteem and to recognise the value of their own contributions to their learning;
  • encourage students to be fully involved in their learning;
  • make clear the expectations of all partners in the process and provision of special needs;
  • ensure parents, referring schools and other agencies are kept fully informed and are engaged in effective communication about their student’s SEN;
  • ensure long-term support is available for pupils who need it through the Education, Health and Care Plan process.
